The renowned designer inaugurates the iLa International Luxury Academy
“Artificial intelligence must be used carefully; otherwise, it becomes dangerous. Still, it’s a step forward in fashion. Our minds sometimes need a helping hand. AI helps us see beyond. I’m absolutely in favor of using it. I have a video where young people show me this new kind of reality. In my opinion, it’s also a creative aid—everything starts with creativity, including exploring new markets. Because I’m convinced that without creativity, and especially without the manual skills that come from true craftsmanship, we won’t get anywhere.
“But students in fashion schools must learn to work with their hands. Craftsmanship is crucial. Luxury also lies in that, as well as in the choice of precious materials. It’s an ethical decision and a sustainable one.”
These are the words of Ermanno Scervino, who recently appeared at Marconi University in Rome for the presentation of iLa – International Luxury Academy, now opening its doors in the very same building that houses the online university.
In addition to the designer—who is recovering from back surgery—the inauguration was attended by Ivana Conte, iLa’s founder and director and the event’s moderator; academy instructors Raffaele Scalese and Dobrilla Denegri; and Angelica Bianco, Editorial Director of Magi Publishing.
